Israeli website: President Abbas's son participated in Riyadh meetings
The English-language Times of Israel magazine website reported that Yasser Abbas, son of President Mahmoud Abbas, was among the Palestinian delegation that went to Riyadh last week, to hold talks with Saudi and American officials, to discuss a possible normalization agreement between Israel and the Kingdom under American sponsorship.
The website quoted two informed sources as saying that the delegation included, in addition to Abbas’s son, the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Hussein Al-Sheikh, the head of the Intelligence Service, Majed Faraj, and the political advisor to the President of the Authority, Magdi Al-Khalidi.
According to the website, “Abbas the Younger” (as described by the website), who does not hold any official position in the Palestinian Authority, participated in meetings with senior Saudi officials, including Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, as well as in a meeting with an American delegation in the presence of the US President’s senior advisor, Brett McGurk, and US Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Barbara Leaf.
The website indicated that Ramallah, Riyadh, and Washington decided not to publish any photos or data about the meeting held at the meeting, which allowed the participation of President Abbas’s son to be kept away from the media.
