Strike in Several Schools in Jabal Mukaber, occupied Jerusalem
Today, Saturday, the strike spread in a number of schools in the town of Jabal Al Mukaber in occupied Jerusalem, on the first day of the new academic year, in protest against the arbitrary measures of the Israeli occupation municipality against students.
The strike came in response to the call of the Central Parents Committee of Jabal Al-Mukaber Schools, as it began with an open strike in Al-Sawahra Secondary School for Boys, and Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School for Boys, and a vigil in Al-Salaa Al-Jadida School, in rejection of the occupation’s decisions against schools.
The committee affirmed that the strike continues until the occupation municipality responds to their legitimate demands, which it submitted repeatedly to no avail, namely: transferring the students of Al-Sawahra Secondary School for Boys to the Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School building in Wadi Al-Hummus, and transferring the students of Ibn Al-Haytham Preparatory School for Boys to The new building located in Al-Jaabis neighborhood, and securing their transportation, after the travel company refused to transport the students for this year.
Also among the demands is presenting a future action plan for building new educational institutions, and closing rented buildings that do not meet the required specifications.
