Jenin – Five Palestinians, including one child, were killed and dozens wounded in a 10-hour long Israeli raid in the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
29-year-old Qassam Abu Siryie, 21-year-old Khaled Asa'sah, 21-year-old Kais Jabareen, and 15-year-old Ahmad Saqer and Ahmed Daraghmeh were identified as the victims.
Twenty-three of those injured are in a serious to critical condition, according to the Health Ministry.
Hazem Emad Nasser, a journalist, was among those injured from live fire.
Israeli special forces stormed the Jabriyat neighborhood, on the outskirts of Jenin refugee camp camp, before they were detected and called in military reinforcements.
Armed resistance fighters used firearms and explosive devices against the occupation forces.
Six Israeli soldiers were injured in the clashes.
On top of deploying snipers, Israel used a helicopter in the West Bank for the first time in years to attack the Jabriyat neighborhood. The missile fell in an empty area near a local mosque.
The Israeli army arrested several Palestinians during the raid, including the released Hamas prisoner Asim Abu Al-Haija.
