The European Union condemns allowing settlers to return to "Homesh"

The European Union condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to allow settlers to establish a permanent presence in the "Homesh" settlement outpost in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement today, Wednesday, the European Union expressed its deep concern about this step, calling on the Israeli government to reverse this decision, and its decisions taken on May 17, to advance plans for more than 600 settlement units in existing and new settlements in the West Bank.

He said that the settlements are illegal under international law and undermine the viability of the two-state solution, stressing that such unilateral measures contradict efforts to calm tensions on the ground.

The federation strongly condemned settler violence, expressing its shock at the forced displacement of 172 citizens, including 78 children, in Ein Samia, east of Ramallah, as a result of repeated settler attacks and demolition orders, calling on Israel to ensure accountability.

The European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janiz Lenarcic, called for an end to the forced eviction of Palestinians in the West Bank, the demolition of donor-funded facilities, and the violence and coercive practices of the Israeli occupation authorities.

In a statement, he urged Israel to prevent forcible transfers, put an end to violations of international law and ensure the safety of those affected.

He said that after relentless acts of violence by Israeli settlers, and the imminent demolition of a school for Palestinians, 37 families in the West Bank in Ein Samiya near Ramallah were forced to leave their homes, stressing that international humanitarian law stipulates that the occupying power must protect the population.
