The Arab Ministerial Committee calls for intensified efforts to recognize Palestine

Today, Wednesday, the open-ended Arab Ministerial Committee in Support of the State of Palestine called on Arab countries to continue their contacts with various countries of the world, urging them to recognize the State of Palestine, especially the permanent members of the Security Council, and to support its obtainment of full membership in the United Nations.


In its final statement issued by its first meeting in the city of Jeddah, headed by Algeria and with the membership of: (Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and the Secretary-General of the Arab League), the General Secretariat of the Arab League requested its missions abroad, through Councils of Arab ambassadors, by moving with the countries of the world that have not recognized the State of Palestine, to urge them to recognize it and support its obtainment of full membership in the United Nations.


The Committee also called on the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to continue his contacts and consultations with the heads of regional organizations (the European Union, the African Union, the Non-Aligned Movement, the BRICS Group, and the ASEAN Group) to urge it to invite its members who have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to recognize it and support its membership. the full United Nations.


She affirmed support for the efforts of the State of Palestine to join international organizations and covenants, with the aim of strengthening its legal and international status, and embodying its independence and sovereignty over its occupied land.


The Arab group in the United Nations called for coordinated action to mobilize support and support for the member states of the General Assembly to recognize the State of Palestine and its accession as a full member of the United Nations.


The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community of Algeria, Ahmed Ataf, "Chairman of the current 31st session of the Arab Summit", in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad Al-Maliki.


In his intervention, Al-Maliki reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian arena, and the suffering of our Palestinian people, regarding the daily crimes committed by Israel in Palestinian cities, villages and camps, stressing the need to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.


He stressed the need to activate the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council resolutions related to international protection for our people, and activate options for its implementation, in addition to the need for the committee to move within a practical plan for the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.


He demanded the need to put pressure on Israel to stop all unilateral measures that kill any political process and do not lead to a two-state solution, and the need to abide by the signed agreements.


For his part, the representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, said that the Arab ministerial committee approved by the Arab summit in Algeria last year held its first meeting today at the level of foreign ministers, with the aim of discussing laying the foundations for its important work in the next stage, which is to support the international movement to provide International protection for the Palestinian people, and support for the efforts of the State of Palestine to obtain more recognition and obtain full membership in the United Nations.


Al-Aklouk added that the committee also discussed ways to support President Mahmoud Abbas's vision of convening an international peace conference, aimed at launching a peace process with a specific time limit, and based on international references, leading to an end to the Israeli occupation and the embodiment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. .


It is noteworthy that the committee includes in its current membership: the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Palestine, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the states of Qatar and Lebanon, the Kingdom of Morocco and Mauritania, in addition to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.


The meeting was attended by: Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for Arab Affairs, Ambassador Fayez Abu Al-Rub, and Senior Adviser Rizk Al-Zaanin from the Palestinian delegation to the Arab League.
