The Shin Bet chief claims: We thwarted an attempt to manufacture and launch rockets from Jenin

Ronen Bar, head of the Israeli General Security Service, the Shin Bet, revealed on Tuesday evening that his forces had thwarted attempts to manufacture and launch rockets from the West Bank towards Israel.

Barr indicated in a press conference that members of the cell from Jenin were arrested and the materials used in the manufacturing process of these missiles were seized, saying: "We have no intention of allowing anyone to turn Afula into a target for missiles."

Barr accused the martyr Tariq Ezzedine, the leader of the Islamic Jihad who was assassinated at dawn, of standing behind this cell, claiming that its members had confessed that he had funded them.

Barr said that Ezzedine was trying to replicate the Gaza experience in the West Bank, by financing Islamic Jihad cells in the West Bank and motivating them to carry out attacks, along with Jihad Ghannam.

The Shin Bet chief sent a threatening message to the Palestinian factions, stating that they are "not immune" from being targeted, and that there is an Israeli willingness to act on all fronts.

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the operation in Gaza was carried out after an intelligence effort, boasting that his forces had killed 100 Palestinians since the beginning of the year.

Netanyahu indicated that he instructed his forces to remain on alert and prepare for any escalation on any front.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that the attack in Gaza was carried out after rockets were fired last Tuesday from the Strip, indicating that he had taken a decision to assassinate those behind the attacks.

Gallant accused Jihad Ghannam of being behind a series of serious attacks, pointing out that the operation was carried out after it had fully matured and after intelligence information led to the annihilation of the leaders of Jihad.

He said, "Last night, we proved to everyone that we are able to reach everyone who threatens us. The Islamic Jihad made a grave mistake in believing that it could harm our citizens whenever it wanted. The operation tonight was very important and we are able to reproduce it on other fronts against whoever threatens us."

He added, "We have a huge security force that operates with high capabilities and on all fronts," noting that the Israeli security system is ready for all scenarios, including long-term battles and on several fronts.

Meanwhile, Herzi Halevi, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, said that his forces dealt a blow to the Supreme Command of the Islamic Jihad as a result of intensive and planned work by the army and intelligence, and that within this complex intelligence operation, places where weapons were produced and stored were struck.

Halevy added: "We chose the right time to carry out the operation. Our message: whoever bombs us and abuses our citizens will not be immune."

He continued, claiming: "We have been seeking for some time to reach a truce with Gaza to give our citizens peace, but Islamic Jihad constantly carries out attacks, and therefore we have targeted those who destabilize security and stability, and we will expand our attacks if necessary."

He added, "We will continue our operations everywhere and on every front."
