The Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philip Lazzarini, discussed today, Tuesday, efforts to provide the necessary financial support to bridge the financial deficit faced by the agency, to ensure its continuation in providing services to Palestinian refugees in accordance with its UN mandate.

Al-Safadi and Lazzarini stressed the need for the international community to take practical and urgent steps to provide the necessary financial support to the Agency, so that it continues to provide its vital services to the refugees.

Al-Safadi said that empowering the agency financially and ensuring its ability to implement its UN mandate is an absolute necessity to provide a decent life for refugees, and to invest in security and stability.

He stressed the centrality of the role played by the Agency in providing education, health services and relief aid to Palestinian refugees, and the need for it to continue its work in accordance with its UN mandate, until the refugee issue is resolved in a way that guarantees their right to return and compensation in accordance with international legitimacy decisions, and within the framework of a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on a solution. two states, addresses all final status issues.

Lazzarini appreciated the main role played by the Kingdom, which is the largest host and indirect supporter of Palestinian refugees, in mobilizing financial and political support for the Agency.
