Double standards in protecting states and peoples

Global anxiety and alertness has been escalating, by the superpowers, led by the United States of America and the European Union, since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in February 2022, and the fear of the growing power of the Russian bear in the world, and its victory in Ukraine. Western reactions were not satisfied with mere statements and condemnation, but rather reached to providing all forms of military and material support to Ukraine, and supplying it with the latest weapons such as missile launchers, tanks, drones, and air defense systems by NATO countries. The Polish president even pledged to send his country's remaining fleet of MiG-29s to Ukraine. In addition to imposing various severe sanctions on Russia, starting with the strict economic sanctions against it, the "Swift system" and freezing more than half of the reserves of the Russian Central Bank, in addition to measures against its ally, Belarus, which facilitates Russia's attack on Ukraine.

The 27 member states of the European Union have ratified a set of legal measures and actions outlined by the European Commission against Russia. Other than that, official delegations of state leaders and foreign ministers were sent to Kiev in order to carry messages of support and support for Ukraine on the one hand. And other delegations to China, to try to convince the Chinese president to change his country's stance on the war and stop supporting President Putin.

What worries these countries is not the destruction, devastation, and blood of innocents wasted in war, but rather the protection of their interests and their political, military, and economic influence, which are threatened by Russia and its ally, China.

What is happening in the international arena in terms of exchange of statements and threats, and the exertion of all efforts by those in control of the existing world order to change the parameters of the war, and put pressure on Russia and China to stop it, shows the extent of double standards and schism in the positions of the world system, and the lack of respect for the sovereignty and rights of oppressed and weak peoples, and openness By adopting blatant and crude double standards in front of the whole world, if what the leaders of the Western world considered that this war was really a flagrant assault on the sovereignty of Ukraine and its people and on the world order, as described by the leaders of the United States of America and its allies from European countries, and as summarized by Josep Borrell, the Supreme Representative of the Union The European Council for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, when it described the Russian attack as an attack on the sovereignty of Ukraine and its people, and that the annexation of Crimea is an illegal measure by Russia. And that what Russia has done, as he described it, is a violation of the United Nations Charter and all its principles, and that defending Ukraine is tantamount to defending international law and the security of the European continent. Rather, he also considered that Ukraine's defense of itself and its lands is a heroic resistance against what he called the Russian invasion.

It is unfortunate that those countries that claim to defend Ukraine and its sovereignty, and consider what Russia is doing as an illegal occupation of another country, are the same countries that have been silent for seventy-five years on Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people, and they are the ones that support Israel in its occupation of Palestine and its violation of its territorial sovereignty. and the rights of its people. Britain, which describes the Russian attack and China's position as a challenge to the world order, and vows to send tanks to protect Ukraine, is the same one that gave the Zionist movement the Balfour Declaration in 1917 and adopted the Zionist project and worked all its efforts to empower the Zionist movement and support it in suppressing the Palestinian people and establishing a usurper entity on its land at the expense of His national rights and aspirations for freedom and independence.

The United States of America was the first to recognize Israel, and the European countries followed suit, after the Nakba, on the ruins of the depopulated villages, after more than 800,000 Palestinians were displaced from their land, and more than seventy massacres were committed.

The United Nations, in its General Assembly, which today condemns the war on Ukraine, is the same one that issued Resolution No. 273 in 1949, accepting Israel's membership in the United Nations. The State of Palestine, and its right to defend itself against the Israeli occupation, and until this moment, the Israeli occupation persists in its aggression and committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people and their land, including settlements, displacement, killings, field executions, arrests, collective punishment, and successive wars on the Gaza Strip , land confiscation, and settlement building without taking a single action against Israel. And justifying this by protecting its security, and denying the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves. On the contrary, it is no secret to anyone the American support for Israel in all its forms and the strong relations and close cooperation between European countries and Israel at the expense of the Palestinian people, their rights and their blood.

And if the European countries mobilized to protect the European continent, as their leaders put it, from the Russian threat, shouldn't the Arab countries be concerned about their security and stability, from the brutal Israeli occupation in the heart of the Arab world, and Israel's attempt to control the entire land of Palestine and its resources?

The time has come for the Arab world to wake up and realize that the real wager today is on Arab unity, and on peoples' awareness of the issues of the Arab nation, and the issue of Palestine is the first and central issue.

There is no doubt that the Russian-Ukrainian war has revealed to the whole world that all the slogans about democracy, international justice, the sovereignty of states and the rights of peoples, which were called for by international covenants, international law and international humanitarian law, which those countries detailed according to their size, are nothing but glamorous slogans used by the colonial countries to pass Its ambitions and the preservation of its interests, and in the face of this scene that reveals the falsity of the world and the absence of integrity and justice, in dealing with the issues of peoples and international conflicts, we must rely on our capabilities starting with stopping the Palestinian division and achieving national unity so that it is the shield that protects the rights of our Palestinian people, and the unifying for all struggles and sacrifices, The compass is directed toward Jerusalem.
