Chinese Foreign Minister affirms his country's support for the just cause of Palestine

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China , Qin Gang, affirmed his country's support for the just cause of Palestine, and for the establishment of the State of Palestine according to the principle of the two-state solution.


This came during a call made today, Monday, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Malki, with his Chinese counterpart, which dealt with bilateral relations, especially with the approaching anniversary of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the State of Palestine, and the desire of the two countries to develop and deepen these relations.


Gang stressed that Palestine is a friend and partner country of China, and that his country supports the just cause of the Palestinian people, recalling the historic meeting that brought together Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the Arab-Chinese summit that took place last December in Riyadh, and affirming The Chinese president supported his country to grant the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations and called for the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution.


Gang affirmed his readiness to make the required efforts to implement what was agreed upon between the two presidents, to continue to assist Palestine economically and politically, to support the required development projects, and China's keenness to provide the strong support required for the embodiment of the Palestinian state, and for it to become a full member of the United Nations.


He also reaffirmed that his country supports the request of the State of Palestine to become a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and supports his country in promoting efforts to achieve national reconciliation, and in supporting negotiations efforts on the basis of a two-state solution, in order to achieve stability in the Middle East and in convening an international peace conference from For a political solution to the Palestinian issue, and the need for Israel to abide by international law and implement United Nations resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2334.


For his part, Al-Maliki re-congratulated his Chinese counterpart on his appointment as State Adviser and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and invited him to visit Palestine and celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and to hold political consultations at the ministerial level.


Al-Maliki also stressed the importance of the upcoming visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to China during the month of June, in response to an invitation extended to him by his Chinese counterpart during the recent Riyadh meeting, and his willingness to coordinate bilaterally with him in order to make the visit a success and achieve its desired goals.


He thanked China for its support for Palestine in all international forums, and for its steadfastness in its principled positions on the Palestinian cause and its justice. He also called on his Chinese counterpart to work to raise the level of bilateral cooperation to the level of strategic partnership and to accelerate the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries, including the completion of negotiations on a free trade agreement between them.


At the same time, Minister Malki reaffirmed the position of the State of Palestine in support of friendly China, China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Palestine's full respect for the one-China policy, support for China in its stance on issues related to the campaigns targeting it in international forums, and opposition to interference in Chinese internal affairs.


Al-Maliki also praised China's efforts to restore diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and its great involvement in supporting stability, security and development in our region and the world at large.


The two ministers exchanged invitations to visit the two countries, and agreed to continue coordination in order to maintain working relations that allow for the development of bilateral relations.
