Pain and sadness hang over the family of the wounded prisoner, Mahmoud al-Tarzi, during the month of Ramadan
The rituals of life differ in the house of the Tarzi family in the city of Jenin . Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the forty-year-old woman, Rehab Al-Tarzi, "Umm Al-Mahdi", used to bring a picture of her wounded captive son, Mahmoud Al-Tarzi , and set it on a chair in the place where he used to sit at her Ramadan table. To eat her breakfast with difficulty and pain, raising her palms towards the sky, and beseeching the Lord of the Worlds to honor Him with patience, steadfastness, and near freedom, so that He and her family may share with her the remaining days of the holy month, which turned, as she said: “sadness, pain, and tears. Sadness in our house, due to the absence of Mahmoud, the captive and wounded, whose news has been cut off, and we do not know his fate.
And she adds: "We live every moment, nightmares of anxiety and fear for his life, as they arrested him and he is still receiving treatment from the effects of their treacherous bullets, and everyone knows that the occupation practices a policy of neglect and refuses to treat patients, so what if his wound is still bleeding until the moment of his arrest?"
The wounded prisoner, Mahmoud III, is considered in his family of 8 members who live in the city of Jenin, according to the mother, Umm Mahdi, that he grew up and was raised there among his family, who loves and appreciates him very much, and is still experiencing the shock of his arrest and imprisonment.
She adds: "He received his education in Jenin schools until he finished middle school, then decided to take responsibility, sacrificed his future and education, and went out to work. He practiced several professions until he settled in one of the city's bakeries, and became the shepherd and breadwinner for our family, with whom he did not fail for a moment, and was very keen to provide All the necessities for a decent life are ours.”
The mother's tears flow, Um Mahdi, as she recalls the pictures and memories of the life and sacrifices of her son, who sacrificed for the sake of his family. During the Israeli aggression on the city of Jenin, the occupation soldiers targeted him, wounding him with four bullets in the foot.
She says: "He survived after he suffered severe bleeding, and underwent several operations, and during his treatment trip, we were surprised by his arrest, as dozens of occupation soldiers stormed our house at dawn hours, terrorizing children, adults, and women with their practices, then isolating us until the search operation ended, by snatching him from his bed despite his pain." And his suffering from their bullets, and they beat him during his unjust arrest.”
Since his arrest, the mother, Umm Mahdi, has moved between the prisoner institutions and the Red Cross, to demand that her son be rescued from the hands of the executioners. We feel that his life is in danger, because the Al-Jalama torture center will affect his life.”
She added: "At the request of the Israeli intelligence, the military court extended his detention 6 times, and despite the lawyer's submitting medical reports about his health and his need for treatment and follow-up, and warning him of the dangers of the cells on his conditions and life, the court refused to release him and he is still detained."
Hotter than embers, the mother awaits her son's freedom and his release from the prisons of the occupation , and she says: "Day and night, I cry and mourn, I can no longer sleep, and the days and moments of Ramadan have no taste or flavour. I am not satisfied with a drink of water or a bite of food, and my wounded son is in pain." He is far from us, and he is in dire need of care and follow-up because of his injury."
And she added, "We appeal to the prisoners' and human rights institutions to intervene and put pressure on the occupation to release him immediately, and to save him from the hell of prisons, and we hold the occupation fully responsible for his life."
