The Captive Club: The captive, Riyad al-Amour, faces great and escalating risks to his fate

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that the prisoner, Riyad al-Amour (53 years), from Bethlehem, who has been detained since 2002 and has been sentenced to life imprisonment 11 times, and who suffers from chronic heart problems, faces great and escalating risks to his fate, as the prison administration continues to carry out a crime. Medical negligence (slow killing) for more than 20 years.


The Captive Club stated that the prisoner Al-Amour was, and still is, subjected to a long and intense series of details related to the crime (medical negligence - slow killing), extending from the first years of his arrest, and the most prominent details of this crime, is his waiting for more than ten years to change the pacemaker, Which took place only about nine months ago, knowing that the pacemaker that was changed is protruding from his body, and it also caused him an additional problem as a result, and according to the doctors, he needs a new operation.


In 2010, the prisoner Al-Amour underwent an open-heart operation, but it became clear again that he was suffering from a problem in one of the heart valves, and he needed a new operation, especially since there was blood coming out of the valve; Thus, fears of bleeding increased, as doctors confirmed that he needed an operation as soon as possible, otherwise there would be great risks to his life.


Before his arrest in 2002, the prisoner Al-Amor was arrested several times, and was also subjected to persecution, and later he faced a harsh and long investigation, during which he faced severe torture until he lost hearing in one of his ears as a result of torture, and during the years of his detention he lost his parents and the occupation prevented him from saying goodbye to them.


The prisoner Al-Amor is among about (35) prisoners in (Ashkelon) prison, including (17) sick prisoners, the most prominent of whom are (Walid Daqqa, Muwafaq Arouq, Fouad Al-Shobaki, who is the oldest of the prisoners, Othman Abu Kharj, Muhammad Ibrash, and Yasser Rabaya).
