The former President of Honduras announces the killing of his son, Said, and tells the details
Tegucigalpa - (AFP) Four people, including the son of former Honduras president Porfirio Lobo, were shot dead Thursday outside a nightclub in the capital, Tegucigalpa, the former president and police announced.
Lobo told local media that heavily armed individuals "forced the youths out of the cars" and shot them "as happens in a commando operation".
He added that his son Saeed, 23, was killed and his other son, Louis, who was in another car, was unharmed.
Police said the crime took place in the underground car park of the nightclub building.
Television footage broadcast by HCH channel showed masked men armed with rifles intercepting a car and forcing its occupants to get off and stand against a wall.
Among the youths killed was the nephew of retired general Romeo Vasquez, who in 2009 led a coup against then-president Manuel Zelaya.
Porfirio Lobo, who led Honduras from 2010 to 2014, has a third son, Fabio, who is currently serving a 24-year prison sentence in the United States for drug trafficking.
Ex-president Rosa Bonilla's wife is also imprisoned in Tegucigalpa on corruption charges when she was the country's first lady.
