The mother of the prisoner, Abu Hamid: His condition is serious, and he stopped the chemical treatment because his body did not respond

Ramallah - exclusive to "Al-Quds" dot com - Latifa Abu Hamid, the mother of the cancer-stricken prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid (50 years) from Al-Amari camp, south of Al-Bireh, confirmed that his chemotherapy sessions were stopped, after his body became unresponsive to treatment, stressing that The seriousness of his health condition, in light of the information available to the family about the possibility of cancer spreading to other areas of his body.


Abu Hamid's mother said in an interview with "Al-Quds": "Nasser, who is currently in the so-called Ramla prison clinic, is living in a difficult health condition, and his captive brother Muhammad is accompanying him to take care of him. He can only move by a wheelchair, and oxygen accompanies him."


Abu Hamid indicated that Nasser is living in a difficult health condition, as he lost weight and became 55 kilograms, and his body did not respond to chemotherapy, even though he took seven sessions of this treatment, despite trying to reduce the doses, which indicates that his health condition is very difficult.


Nasser Abu Hamid's mother confirmed that her son suffers from a policy of medical negligence, and his health condition requires his constant presence in the hospital to be monitored, stressing that the family is calling for his release for treatment, or at least transferring him to an Israeli civilian hospital for treatment.


Abu Hamid explained that she visited her son Nasser about a week ago, and his spirits were high despite his poor health, as he was accompanied by his brother Muhammad, while noting that she was able to grab the tips of her two sons' fingers from behind the "grille" and kissed them.


The Authority of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs had warned a few days ago of the worsening health conditions of the detainee Abu Hamid, noting that cancer had spread to new and different parts of his body, including the brain.


It is worth reminding them that the prisoner Abu Hamid discovered that he had cancer last year, and he has been detained since 2002 and has been sentenced to seven life terms and 50 years in prison. He is among five brothers facing a life sentence in detention centers, and their house had been demolished several times by the occupation forces. The last of which was in 2019, and their mother was denied visiting them for several years, and they lost their father during the years of their detention, while their brother Abdel Moneim Abu Hamid was martyred in the nineties of the last century.
