Harsh Testimony from Doctor Hussam Abu Safiya: Repeated Physical Assaults and Underground Solitary Confinement

Legal sources reported, quoting captive doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, that he has been subjected to a series of violent physical assaults inside Israeli occupation prisons. Lawyers explained after visiting him on Thursday that the doctor's health condition is concerning due to the continued systematic abuse he has faced since his arrest, showing signs of exhaustion and injuries resulting from direct beatings.

According to Abu Safiya's testimony, the jailers beat him again brutally, causing a severe injury to one of his fingers that led to heavy bleeding. This incident comes amid an escalation of violations against Palestinian prisoners, especially medical personnel who were working in hospitals before being abducted by occupation forces.

The detained doctor revealed the tragic conditions of his detention, as he is currently in complete solitary confinement inside a facility known as 'Rakevet,' which consists of cells located underground and lacking the most basic human necessities. Abu Safiya described this place as aiming to break the morale of prisoners by isolating them from the outside world in a harsh and dark environment.

In a moving message conveyed through his legal team, Dr. Abu Safiya called on human rights and international organizations to take immediate action to save his life and secure the necessary medical treatment for his recent injury. He emphasized the need to work by all available means to end the policy of solitary confinement imposed on him by the prison administration without legal justification.

It is worth noting that targeting Palestinian doctors and health personnel has become a recurring approach by the occupation authorities, amid increasing international demands for the protection of medical teams and ensuring the safety of detainees. Dr. Abu Safiya's case is an example of what hundreds of prisoners face in terms of illegal detention conditions that contradict the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.

I was beaten again after your previous visit, and my finger was injured and bled. Do whatever you can to get me out of this place and end my isolation.
