Abu Rahma: Strike and civil disobedience will reduce the duration of the siege on Shuafat and Anata camps
Ramallah - exclusive to Al-Quds.com - Abdullah Abu Rahma, Director of the Popular Action Department in the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, confirmed that the strike and civil disobedience , which began today, Wednesday, will reduce the duration of the siege imposed on the Shuafat camp and the town of Anata, northeast of Jerusalem.
Abu Rahma told Al-Quds.com, "The strike and civil disobedience are among the most important means of popular resistance, as there is broad participation in them, and continuity and collective participation are important, and they require patience and endurance, and I believe in the end that whoever is patient and will continue is the one who will win."
Abu Rahma stressed that "these days, the idea of strike in Jerusalem and its surroundings, especially since those places are under the full control of the occupation, and if the strike continues, it will achieve quick results and force the occupation to restore life as it was."
He referred to many experiences with the idea of a comprehensive strike and civil disobedience, which succeeded, as happened in the Beit Sahour strike during the first popular uprising, and civil and comprehensive disobedience does not require long periods, but achieves its results after a short time.
Abu Rahma stressed that the results of popular resistance in general are not temporary, and its impact may come after a short time, but with the idea of civil disobedience, its results are quick.
Regarding the idea of the strike's efficacy in the West Bank, and areas where there is no control of the occupation, such as Jerusalem, Abu Rahma stressed that the strike comes in the context of solidarity, but the efficacy of that strike coincides with the days of anger and escalation in places of contact with the occupation.
He pointed out that the strike in the West Bank without resorting to escalation, if it continues for long periods, may have a negative impact on the Palestinians and those of us who are affected economically, unlike Jerusalem, which is still under the control of the occupation forces.
Abu Rahma stressed that the idea of the strike in the West Bank is important, within the framework of solidarity, and that the Palestinian people will not leave the people of Shuafat camp and Jerusalem alone, as it comes within the framework of expanding the area of solidarity, as it will have its solidarity repercussions on the global level.
