A pro-Israel organization requests the International Criminal Court to open an investigation against President Abbas and Shtayyeh
Translation by "Jerusalem" dot com - The Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom reported today, Wednesday, that a pro- Israel legal organization calling itself the "International Legal Forum" submitted a request to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to open an investigation against Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his prime minister, Muhammad . Shtayyeh .
And that organization claimed - as mentioned in the Hebrew newspaper - that the Palestinian Authority is "torturing detainees, including opponents, political and human rights activists, journalists, women, minorities, and people suspected of links to Israel," blaming President Abbas and Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh for direct responsibility for what is happening.
The request was submitted yesterday, coinciding with a session of the UN Committee against Torture, which was discussing a human rights report by Human Rights Watch on torture practiced against Palestinians by the two governments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
According to the Hebrew newspaper, the Palestinian Authority sent a large delegation headed by Interior Minister Ziyad Hab al-Rih to Geneva, and attended yesterday's session on the human rights report on torture, noting that for the first time a UN committee discusses such a report against the Palestinians.
