Development announces the date of disbursement of the first batch of support provided to the orphan category

Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Minister of Social Development , Dr. Ahmed Majdalani, today, Tuesday, that the first batch of support provided to the orphan category will be disbursed tomorrow, Wednesday, through the “Pay Pay” service, as 5 million shekels will be disbursed to 5544 orphans from the southern governorates .


This came during the signing of a framework agreement to enhance cooperation in the field of providing support to orphans (families and students) in all governorates of the country between the Ministry of Social Development and the International "Wafa" Association, Palestine Office, represented by its Director General, Muhaisen Atawneh, this morning, at the Ministry's headquarters.


During the signing, the Minister of Development said: "The Ministry relies on multiple criteria in providing its services to poor families and orphans, most notably eligibility, as the Ministry provides cash and relief assistance to 119,000 families in the Gaza Strip."


Minister Majdalani called on the "Wafa" Association to make more efforts to support and assist poor and marginalized families to complete the education of their children who have completed the general secondary stage for the current year 2022, as some families do not have the ability to do so, which necessitates concerted efforts and joint coordination between various local and international institutions to support them. Students, who numbered 750 male and female students in the Gaza Strip.


Minister Majdalani continued, "We look forward to more cooperation and partnership, in order to provide social protection for the Palestinian citizen, through protection, care, prevention, empowerment and awareness programs based on a rights-based approach."


In turn, Atawneh stressed that the partnership between the ministry and the association is genuine and continuous, in order to contribute to the development, building and strengthening of the capacities of civil institutions and associations, building the capabilities of youth and the unemployed, and improving the economic, social and educational situation of the poor.


Atawneh explained that the "Wafa" Association provides assistance in the field of human resource development and the development and encouragement of the spirit of innovation and creativity by providing financial, technical and professional support opportunities for projects to empower the poor, the needy, orphans and women in Palestine, and any projects of a developmental nature that support the Palestinian economy, in accordance with Palestinian laws. .


The signing ceremony was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Asim Khamis, the Assistant Undersecretary for Family Care and Protection, Rola Nazzal, the Assistant Undersecretary for Northern District Affairs, Khaled Atmezi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Southern District Affairs, Akram Al-Hafi, the Director General of the General Administration of Social Welfare, Sonia Al-Helou, and the Director of the Orphanage Department, Alaa Al-Zabin.


On a separate note, the Minister of Social Development, Dr. Ahmed Majdalani, with the Mayor of Jenin, Nidal Obeidi, and his accompanying delegation, discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership to provide services to poor and marginalized families in the city of Jenin.


The minister also listened to the most prominent problems facing the municipality, in terms of limited resources and the inability to provide salaries for municipal employees.


And he briefed Dr. Mayor Majdalani and his accompanying delegation discussed the most important developments in the work at the level of the national social register, the campaign to update data, the case management system, and the mechanism of transformation accordingly towards development and empowerment of poor and marginalized families.
