Jerusalem - "Al Quds" dot com - The Islamic Christian Organization for the Support of Jerusalem and Holy Sites called on Jerusalemite institutions to carry out the widest campaign of solidarity with Jerusalem schools and stand by them in refusing to implement the Israeli curriculum that the occupation authorities seek to impose by force on the city's schools.

The authority said in a statement today, Sunday, that the battle of rejecting the Israeli curriculum is a political battle par excellence that affects the entire Jerusalemite community.

The authority commended the position of the parents of the students, refusing to impose the Israeli curriculum, stressing that they should not deal with any curriculum outside the decisions of the Palestinian Ministry of Education, and take escalatory steps before the start of the next academic year to confront the implementation of this curriculum.

It called on the National Authority to take urgent action with international institutions to thwart this plan and to provide all forms of support and aid to Jerusalemite schools in their battle to reject the Israeli curriculum.

The commission called on UNESCO to assume its responsibilities and intervene to stop this targeting of the Palestinian educational system, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international covenants and treaties that prohibit the occupation authorities from interfering in the education curriculum for peoples under military occupation.
