The occupation releases a prisoner from Tubas after serving 18 years

Tubas - "Jerusalem" dot com - Today, Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces released the prisoner, Firas Sawafta (39 years), from the city of Tubas, after serving 18 years in the occupation prisons.

According to the Prisoners' Club, the prisoner, Sawafta, was released from Megiddo Prison, at the Salem military checkpoint, west of Jenin, where he was supposed to be released last July.

The club explained that the occupation authorities extended Sawafta’s detention to stand trial following a case brought against him while he was in captivity. According to an agreement with his lawyer, he was supposed to be released on August 14, but that was not done, and a court session was set for him to examine the possibility of transferring him to administrative detention.

It is noteworthy that the prisoner, Sawafta, was arrested in July 2004 and sentenced to 18 years in prison, noting that he was a university student at the time.
