The Saudi Ambassador to Jordan and the Commissioner-General of UNRWA inaugurate a health center in Zarqa camp

Jordan - "Al Quds" dot com - Today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Jordan, Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi, and the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East ( UNRWA ), Philip Lazzarini, inaugurated today, Sunday, in the Zarqa camp , northeast of the Jordanian capital, Amman. A health center that serves about 300,000 Palestine refugees in Jordan.


The opening ceremony was attended by the Director General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs, Eng. Rafiq Kharfan, and the Governor of Zarqa Governorate, Hassan Al-Jabour.


The new health center, at a cost of two million US dollars, donated by the Saudi Fund for Development, provides ease of movement for people with disabilities, and includes green spaces, a children's play area, and sun-shaded areas.


In his speech during the ceremony, Ambassador Al-Sudairy said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a pioneer in humanitarian work, with the aim of alleviating human suffering around the world, in cooperation with the United Nations and international organizations."


Ambassador Al-Sudairi added, "The Kingdom fully supports Palestine refugees, including through our partnership with UNRWA and its services."


Ambassador Al-Sudairi and UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini toured the health center facilities, where they exchanged conversations with health center staff and Palestine refugee patients.


For his part, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying: I would like to express our deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its strong support for UNRWA, adding that this donation embodies the historic support that the Kingdom provides to Palestine refugees throughout their ordeal.


On behalf of UNRWA, Lazzarini welcomed the recent donation of $27 million from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support UNRWA services, at a time when the Agency is facing an acute funding shortfall.
