Martyr and injuries in Gaza and human rights warnings of a catastrophic reality facing the children of the Strip

Medical sources reported the martyrdom of a Palestinian citizen and the retrieval of another body during the past twenty-four hours, as a result of a series of targeting operations carried out by the occupation forces in various areas in the central and southern Gaza Strip. The sources clarified that nine other citizens were injured with varying degrees of wounds in these attacks, which coincided with intensive drone flights over the Strip.

In details of the field attacks, two Palestinians were injured by fire from a 'quadcopter' drone that directly targeted them in the Shuja'iyya area, east of Gaza City. Medical sources also confirmed the injury of six other citizens as a result of a drone targeting a group of residents near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, which caused a state of panic among displaced people and patients.

At sea, Israeli warships opened fire with their machine guns at a Palestinian fisherman off the northwestern coast of Rafah, in an attempt to restrict the limited livelihoods of the residents. Early this morning, the northeastern areas of Al-Bureij refugee camp were subjected to intense artillery shelling, with several shells falling on agricultural lands without causing human casualties.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the total death toll from the Israeli war of extermination since October 2023 has risen to 72,601 martyrs. Official data indicated that the occupation continues to systematically target civilians despite existing understandings, which increases the number of victims and injured daily in various governorates.

For its part, the Palestinian government in Gaza documented 377 violations of the ceasefire agreement by the occupation during April alone. These violations led to the death of 111 martyrs and the injury of 376 others, a clear indication of the Israeli side's failure to adhere to the announced calm and its continuation of localized military operations.

Regarding the humanitarian situation, government reports confirmed that the occupation is obstructing the flow of essential aid, as only 4,503 trucks were allowed to enter during the current month out of 18,000 required trucks. This systematic obstruction has exacerbated living crises, as the percentage of incoming aid did not exceed 25% of the necessary needs of the besieged population.

Regarding the situation of children, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor issued a shocking statement confirming that children in Gaza are living in unprecedentedly cruel humanitarian conditions. The Monitor clarified that every child in the Strip is currently suffering from at least one form of post-traumatic stress disorder, as a result of the horrific scenes and continuous loss of safety.

The human rights monitor pointed out that more than 600,000 children are still deprived of their right to formal education, after the Israeli military machine destroyed about 80% of schools and educational facilities. The statement also noted the presence of about 750,000 displaced children living in tents, lacking the most basic necessities for a dignified life due to the prevention of reconstruction materials from entering.

According to the Monitor's statistics, the occupation has killed 187 children since the ceasefire came into effect last October, raising the number of orphans in the Strip to 45,600 children who have lost one or both parents. The Monitor expected that about 21,000 children would suffer from permanent or long-term disabilities as a result of the serious injuries they sustained during air raids and artillery shelling.

It is worth noting that the ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on October 10, 2025, came after two years of a comprehensive war of extermination that left massive destruction affecting 90% of the infrastructure. Despite the agreement, figures indicate that 823 Palestinians have been killed and 2,308 others injured since that date, which places the international community before its responsibilities to stop these ongoing violations.

The occupation did not commit to introducing the required aid and sufficed with a percentage not exceeding 25%, which reflects a systematic obstruction of the flow of humanitarian relief.
