Red Crescent: We received distress calls from families stuck in Nour Shams camp and we are facing difficulty in reaching them

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced today, Wednesday, that it had received dozens of distress calls from families stuck inside the Nour Shams camp, east of Tulkarm city.

The association said in a statement that it had received dozens of calls from families stuck in the Jabal al-Nasr area of the camp, and was facing difficulty in reaching them due to the dangerous situation and the area being besieged by the occupation forces.

She added, "We continue our coordination efforts with partners to ensure safe access for crews to evacuate these families and provide them with the necessary support."

Last night, the occupation forces notified the demolition of 11 homes in Nour Shams camp in the coming days, under the pretext of paving a road starting from the mosque neighborhood towards the Manshiyya neighborhood, and gave the owners of the homes a deadline to go to the camp from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm to evacuate their homes and take their belongings before they are demolished.

In the morning, dozens of citizens were seen heading into the camp, accompanied by relief teams from the Red Crescent, Civil Defense, and others, amidst a state of shock and sadness at the scenes of destruction that befell the camp in general and the property in particular.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society crews evacuated a number of families who were still in their homes and ensured their safe exit.

Painful scenes showed families rushing out, racing against time, carrying whatever belongings they could from their partially destroyed homes, while the occupation forces surrounded the area and deployed their vehicles in large numbers around the camp, deliberately driving at high speed over the rubble and sewage water and throwing it at those present in the area, especially journalists.

Nour Shams camp has been witnessing a continuous escalation since the beginning of the occupation's aggression against it 18 days ago, coinciding with the ongoing aggression against the city of Tulkarm and its camp for 31 days, as the occupation forces carry out repeated raids on homes after blowing up their doors, expelling their residents from them at gunpoint, and turning them into military barracks.

The camp was also subjected to extensive and complete destruction of infrastructure and property, including homes and shops that were demolished, bombed and burned, which exacerbated the suffering of citizens who remained in their homes, under a tight siege and a shortage of basic materials such as food, water, medicine and baby milk.

During the past few days, the camp witnessed a large displacement movement among its residents, including women, children, the elderly and the sick, concentrated in the neighborhoods of Al-Maslakh, Al-Manshiya, and Jabal Al-Salihin and Al-Nasr, where their number exceeded 5,000 displaced persons.
