Forced displacement of residents of Nour Shams camp due to the occupation aggression

Nour Shams camp, east of Tulkarm city, is witnessing a worsening humanitarian crisis, after the occupation forces forced its residents to flee their homes, amid a military escalation that resulted in the deaths of martyrs and wounded, in addition to the widespread destruction of infrastructure and property.

According to local sources, dozens of families were seen today leaving the camp after being forced by the occupation forces, at gunpoint, to leave their homes under the threat of random gunfire, while explosions were heard from time to time.

A number of citizens, during their displacement from the camp, spoke about the extent of the suffering at the moment they were forced to leave their homes and were detained for hours in the rain and on the dust and mud of the streets, and what preceded that of their exposure to abuse, insults and body searches, especially young men and men, and their detention for long hours before being allowed to leave.

While another number described the camp’s condition as very difficult and miserable, with demolished houses and shops, bulldozed streets, and occupation soldiers raiding houses in a barbaric manner, breaking their contents from the inside, assaulting young men, and expelling the elderly without allowing them to take their basic needs, especially clothes, and seizing their mobile phones.

The head of the Popular Committee for Services in Nour Shams Camp, Nihad Al-Shawish, described the conditions inside the camp to WAFA as extremely difficult, as the occupation forces have reached large parts of the camp’s neighborhoods and are raiding homes, blowing up their doors with their residents inside, and forcing them to leave by threatening them.

He explained that there is a large displacement movement among the camp's residents, including women, children, the elderly and the sick, concentrated in the neighborhoods of Al-Maslakh, Al-Manshiya, Jabal Al-Salihin and Jabal Al-Nasr, which have become almost empty of their residents, pointing out that the occupation forces are directing each group of displaced families to go to a specific area distributed between the city, the suburb of Dhnaba and the town of Anabta.

Al-Shawish pointed out that the Palestinian Red Crescent Society is making efforts to help the elderly and sick leave the camp and transfer them to safe places.

He added that this operation coincided with the occupation bulldozers destroying and testing the infrastructure, which led to the interruption of electricity, water and internet networks, and also affected citizens' homes, shops and vehicles, especially in the neighborhoods of Al-Manshiya Schools and Jabal Al-Salihin, and is now extending to its internal neighborhoods.

In addition, the Emergency Committee in Nour Shams Camp announced today, Monday, that half of the camp’s residents have been displaced, the infrastructure has been destroyed, and that the occupation has completely destroyed 200 homes and partially destroyed 120 homes, and the numbers are still expected to increase.

Citizens from inside the camp, especially the elderly and some families in the targeted neighborhoods, continue to appeal to the concerned authorities to intervene to save the lives of those whose homes were partially demolished while they were inside, as happened with the Al-Qasir family in Jabal Al-Salihin.

The occupation forces stormed the camp at dawn yesterday, Sunday, during their ongoing aggression on the city and camp of Tulkarm for the 15th consecutive day, using military vehicles and bulldozers that destroyed the infrastructure and property, and imposed a tight cordon on it, while firing live bullets, which led to the martyrdom of three citizens, including two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant.
