Health experts concluded during a solidarity event with the Gaza Strip that "the health system has completely collapsed throughout the Strip as a result of the Israeli war of extermination, and its reconstruction requires about 12 years."

This came during an event organized today, Saturday, by a group of health workers, under the title "The Great Protest in the White Tent", in front of the United Nations office in the Swiss city of Geneva, to shed light on the events in Gaza.

Participants described Israel's practices in the Gaza Strip after October 7, 2023, as "genocide," stressing the need not to remain silent about it.

“An international health coalition has been formed to support Gaza,” said Huseyin Durmaz, an activist from Turkey who is a member of the Global Health Initiative and is participating in the protest. “More than 100 health organizations from more than 12 countries are currently active at the protest site,” he said, adding that “other organizations from more than 50 countries have signed the statements we published or shown solidarity by organizing simultaneous protests.”

According to the activists' estimates, "even if they were allowed to enter Gaza without any conditions, it would take 12 years to build everything."

The activist and participant in the event, the French health worker of Algerian origin, Nouria Belhaj, said, “We, as health workers, are particularly affected by what is happening to our colleagues in Palestine, and we consider that we have a sacred mission towards our patients, and we must be in complete solidarity with them.”

Sarah Gali, a Dutch health worker, said the event called on the United Nations to protect health workers in Gaza and the West Bank "because they are under attack like we have never seen before in our lifetimes."

Ghali pointed out that the health situation in Gaza has reached a "catastrophic level, with more than 1,400 attacks on health facilities since October 7, 2023," resulting in the deaths of more than 1,000 health workers.
