900 checkpoints and military gates besiege Palestinians in the West Bank
The Israeli occupation authorities have escalated the occupation's measures and closures in the West Bank, coinciding with the escalation of terrorist attacks by settler gangs on Palestinians and their property, while the occupation continues to set up military checkpoints and iron gates, and close more roads with earth mounds.
The Director General of Publication and Documentation at the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Amir Daoud, said that the occupation had installed more than 146 iron gates throughout the West Bank after October 7, 2023, including 17 since the beginning of 2025.
The Palestinian official explained that the total number of barriers today is 898, distributed between gates and barriers of all types, permanent or temporary, or dirt barriers, cubes, and others.
For the third consecutive day, the occupation forces tightened their military measures at most of the entrances and exits of the governorates in the West Bank.
Local sources reported that the occupation has tightened its military measures at the Atara and Ein Siniya checkpoints in the vicinity of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
She stated that the Atara and Ein Siniya checkpoints, north of Ramallah, are witnessing, for the third consecutive day, a stifling crisis for those leaving, as the occupation soldiers search vehicles and check citizens’ ID cards, and hundreds of vehicles are lined up in long lines, waiting to be allowed to leave.
The occupation forces closed the entrances to the villages of Nabi Elias and Kafr Laqif with an iron gate, and prevented the movement of citizens. They also set up military checkpoints at the entrances to the villages of Al-Funduq, Jit, and Hajja, east of Qalqilya, which hindered the movement of citizens along the main Qalqilya-Nablus road, which connects those villages.
The occupation forces also closed the Tayasir military checkpoint east of Tubas with iron gates, and prevented citizens from crossing, especially those heading towards the Jordan Valley.
The occupation forces tightened their military measures at the Hamra military checkpoint, and hindered the movement of Palestinians, causing a severe traffic crisis.
For a year and a half, the two checkpoints have been witnessing military reinforcements and repeated closures to citizens’ movements, which have intensified over the past three days.
Hundreds of Palestinians spent the night at the checkpoints, waiting to cross and reach their workplaces.
The occupation separates the cities of the West Bank from the Jordan Valley through these two barriers, and the Palestinians’ access to the Jordan Valley has become dependent on the flexibility of the barriers.
The occupation forces tightened their measures at the Qalandia and Jaba military checkpoints north of Jerusalem, which hindered the movement of Palestinians and caused a severe traffic crisis.
