Israeli police arrest two Israeli protesters in protest demanding ceasefire
Israeli police arrested two female protesters on Monday while they were taking part in a protest in West Jerusalem, calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange deal.
Haaretz newspaper said that the police arrested "two demonstrators demanding a hostage deal while they were protesting in front of Minister Ron Dermer's house.
The newspaper explained that a number of Israeli women participated in the demonstration organized by the "Women's Protest Association," where they raised banners, some of which read, "Hostage Agreement and Ceasefire Now."
The Israeli opposition accuses Netanyahu of obstructing reaching an agreement to preserve his position and government, as extremist ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, threaten to withdraw from the government and bring it down if he accepts an end to the war.
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 45,259 citizens, most of whom are women and children, and the injury of more than 107,627 others. Thousands of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and elderly people.
