To restrict the movement of citizens: Israel intends to deploy automatic firing systems in the West Bank
The Israeli occupation army is preparing to deploy an automated weapons system installed on watchtowers operated by remote monitors, for the first time in the occupied West Bank, according to a report by the occupation army radio, today, Sunday.
The system, called "Rue-Ureh" (sees-shoots), is an advanced weapons system developed by Rafael Combat Systems, consisting of a turret containing advanced surveillance means and a lethal fire system controlled remotely from command centers.
The report stated that since this system entered the Israeli army's arsenal in 2008, it has been used exclusively in the Gaza Strip, where it was deployed along the security fence east of the Strip, and operated by observers to target Palestinians approaching the separation fence.
The radio explained that the 636th Reconnaissance Unit of the West Bank Division will operate the systems.
