Warning of more deaths among Gaza detainees
The Prisoners Club warned of the rise of more martyrs among the ranks of Gaza detainees, in light of the repeated scenes of arrest operations in Gaza, after the occupation announced the arrest of 200 citizens from Jabalia, with the continuation of the war of extermination for more than a year, as well as the renewal of the siege on the north for 20 days.
The Prisoners Club issued a statement yesterday about the escalation of arrests in northern Gaza under threat of arms, and detention in conditions that degrade human dignity, with naked people being crammed into trucks and in open areas, which is an extension of the arrest campaigns that have affected thousands of our people since the beginning of the war, which was accompanied by horrific crimes that led to the martyrdom of dozens of Gaza detainees, as a result of torture and abuse, in addition to the field executions that have affected many detainees.
He reiterated that there are still major difficulties in following up on the issue of Gaza detainees, in light of the occupation’s continued implementation of the crime of enforced disappearance against hundreds of them, even after the legal amendments that allowed institutions to investigate the fate of detainees, identify their places of detention, and conduct limited visits to them.
It is noteworthy that the occupation continues to conceal the names of dozens of martyrs from Gaza, and refuses to disclose their identities, knowing that 24 detainees from Gaza have died in the occupation’s prisons and camps, and only their names have been announced, out of 41 dead who have died in the occupation’s prisons, as a result of crimes of torture, starvation, humiliation, abuse, medical crimes, and sexual assaults, including rape.
It is noteworthy that the occupation detains Gaza detainees in most of the prisons and camps, and their detention centers are concentrated in the prisons of: (Negev, Ofer, and Ofer camp, in addition to a group of camps, the most prominent of which was the (Sde Teiman) camp, which was a title for torture crimes, noting that all the crimes documented in the (Sde Teiman) camp were documented in various prisons). As for the number of detainees from Gaza, the clear number available to the institutions is what the occupation prison administration announced at the beginning of October, of those classified as (illegal combatants), and their number is 1618, including women and children.
He stressed that all the demands made by human rights institutions and the cries of our people in Gaza, and the genocide taking place in front of the world, were not enough for the world and the international human rights system to stop the war of extermination, and the world continues to keep the occupation in a state of exception from all the laws and customs imposed by the human rights system, to which human societies are subject, but rather the occupation is working to institutionalize more crimes that affect all of humanity.
All the crimes documented and followed up by institutions since the beginning of the war of extermination are historically fixed and systematic crimes, and the occupation has practiced them over many decades, but the only variable relates to their level and intensity.
