Borrell condemns occupation targeting displaced people in a school and hospital in Gaza
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned the Israeli occupation's targeting of a hospital yard and a school in central Gaza, which house displaced citizens.
"I condemn the new attacks by the Israeli army on a hospital and a school used as a shelter in central Gaza," Borrell said in a post on the X platform on Monday.
Borrell added that "the bombing resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians seeking safety in horrific conditions."
He pointed out that "mass evacuation orders, violations of international humanitarian law, and disregard for civilian casualties will not make Israelis safer."
On Monday morning, 4 citizens were killed and about 40 others were injured in an Israeli occupation raid that targeted tents for displaced people in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, which led to a major fire that spread to about 30 tents.
On Sunday evening, 22 citizens, including 15 children and a woman, were killed and 80 others were injured when the occupation bombed the "Mufti" school, which houses thousands of displaced people in the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip.
The ongoing Israeli genocidal war against our people in the Gaza Strip has left more than 140,000 martyrs and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, amidst massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.
Israel, the occupying power, continues the genocide, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for its immediate end, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
It also defies the request of the International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan to issue two arrest warrants against its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and its Defense Minister Yoav Galant, for their responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The Israeli occupation has turned the Gaza Strip into the largest prison in the world, as it has been besieging it for the 18th year. The "genocidal" war has forced about two million people from the Strip's population, numbering about 2.3 million, to flee in catastrophic conditions, with a severe and deliberate shortage of food, water and medicine.
