Israeli occupation threatens to seize 7 dunums of Beit Lid lands, east of Tulkarm
The Israeli occupation authorities notified the seizure of 7 dunams and 739 square meters of land in the town of Beit Lid, east of Tulkarm Governorate.
Local sources explained that the lands that the occupation notified of the seizure are located in Khallet Dheeb, Jabal Abu Luqa, Al-Ajrad and Hariqat Al-Tayr, and are owned by citizens from the town and neighboring villages.
One of the owners of these lands, Maan Rashid, said that the danger of this decision is not only in the seizure of 7 dunams of the town’s lands, but rather in the danger that threatens hundreds of dunams of lands of the surrounding villages, specifically Kafr al-Labad and Shufa, which are rich in olive trees, and thus the implementation of their great colonial plan to connect the “Anab” and “Avnei Hefetz” colonies, which are built on the lands of these villages, and to besiege them after stealing their lands.
He added that issuing this decision at this particular time is to put pressure on farmers with the start of the olive harvest season, and to prevent them from reaching their lands, which they have proof of ownership of, noting that the town’s lands are exposed from time to time to attacks by settlers, the most recent of which was three weeks ago when they burned a large part of the lands planted with olives.
Rashid pointed out that since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the occupation and its settlers have prevented farmers from reaching their lands in the targeted Abu Luqa Mountain area, as the occupation builds mobile wooden houses on them from time to time, and they are located near the Anab settlement.
It is noteworthy that the occupation forces have been closing the main entrance to the town of Beit Lid with earth mounds since last October, and are deliberately restricting the movement of citizens who are forced to take dirt and rough roads to reach their lands and the rest of the villages and towns of the governorate and the city.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the occupation seized 367 dunums of citizens’ land during the month of August.
