Sinwar sends a message to Nasrallah

Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, sent a message to the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, thanking him for the party’s involvement in confronting the Israeli occupation, within the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle.

Hezbollah's media office announced the message on Friday, which comes about a month after Sinwar assumed the leadership of the movement, succeeding its former leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in Tehran on July 31.

Al-Sinwar said, addressing Nasrallah: “We received with great appreciation and pride your generous message, congratulating and condoling you on the martyrdom of your comrade, the head of the movement’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and his companion.”

Al-Sinwar thanked Nasrallah for his solidarity, "mixed with sincere and noble feelings, which was expressed by your blessed actions on the fronts of the resistance axis, in support, backing and engagement in this battle."

He said: "Our martyr leader, the symbol of the nation and Palestine, Abu al-Abd (Haniyeh), ascended in the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, one of the most honorable historical battles of our Palestinian people, confirming that the blood of our leaders and mujahideen is not more precious than the blood of our people."

He added: "This pure blood and blessed convoys of martyrs will become more steadfast and strong in confronting the Nazi Zionist occupation."

Al-Sinwar stressed that the movement "will remain, as it has always been, steadfast on the path of loyalty to the blood of the martyrs, and that the lofty principles that Haniyeh called for will remain steadfast and present, and that its movement and our fighters will continue to follow them."

He explained that "at the forefront of these principles is the unity of our Palestinian people in the choice of jihad and resistance, and the unity of the nation, at the heart of which is the axis of resistance in the face of the Zionist project, in defense of our nation and our sanctities (...) until the occupation is defeated and swept away from our land, and our independent state with full sovereignty is established with Jerusalem as its capital."

On August 6, Hamas appointed Sinwar as head of its political bureau, succeeding Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the Iranian capital on July 31 in an attack that Tehran said Israel was behind.
