The war of extermination since 11 months... Closing the door to ending it requires opening the door to national unity
Dr. Sabri Saidam: Accelerating the achievement of Palestinian national unity is an essential step to confront the crimes of the occupation
Issam Bakr: Recognition of Israel must be withdrawn and agreements concluded with it must be nullified in implementation of the decisions of the National and Central Councils
Magda Al-Masry: Confronting genocide lies in implementing the Beijing Declaration and forming a national consensus government with reference from all forces and organizations
Dr. Ahmed Rafiq Awad: The chances of stopping the war lie in Israeli public pressure, not American or Arab pressure
Imad Moussa: The occupation government offers only one solution, which is subjugation through genocide and the displacement of the remaining Palestinians.
Dr. Ashraf Badr: The situation will remain the same if American pressure does not intervene to reach an agreement or deal
With the continuation of the Israeli war of extermination against the Palestinian people, the absence of the Arab role, and the United States’ alignment with the plans of the fascist occupation government, calls are increasing to accelerate the implementation of the “Beijing Declaration” to achieve Palestinian national unity as a basic step to confront the crimes of the occupation.
Political leaders, writers and political analysts said in separate interviews with Al-Quds: “International legal paths must be exploited to hold Israel accountable for its crimes, in addition to intensifying diplomatic pressures and popular movements in the countries of the world to force the occupation to stop its crimes and brutal war.”
They stressed that the current stage requires unifying the national ranks and strengthening internal alliances to confront the occupation's policies, which seek to displace the Palestinians and confiscate their rights.
Exploiting international legal paths
Sabri Saidam, Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, stressed the need to accelerate the achievement of Palestinian national unity, as a basic step to confront the current challenges, in light of the escalation of Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.
Saedam pointed out the importance of exploiting international legal paths, such as transferring the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legitimacy of the occupation to the United Nations, so that it turns into official decisions that can be implemented.
Saedam called for pressuring the International Criminal Court to implement the arrest warrant issued against Israeli war criminals, stressing that there is collusion and procrastination in this file.
In the context of preparing for the launch of the next session of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled to be held on the twenty-third of this month, Saidam stressed the importance of good preparation for this session, especially in light of the expected speech by President Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazen" on the twenty-sixth of this month.
Saidam stressed that it is important for this speech to carry clear Palestinian demands aimed at activating international legitimacy resolutions, stopping the ongoing Israeli attacks targeting the Palestinian people, and stopping the "imposed holocaust" on the Palestinians.
Saidam stressed the need to strengthen the Palestinian internal front, especially by providing support to the people in the camps and strengthening their steadfastness by improving services and repairing what can be repaired in light of the ongoing destruction to which they are exposed.
Rejecting internal political bullying
Sa'edam explained that strengthening the unity of the Palestinian ranks is imperative at this critical stage, expressing his rejection of the state of "internal political bullying" and scoring points against each other, especially since we are all living in a stage that requires unity of purpose.
Saidam said that everyone must believe in the principle that “Netanyahu targets everyone regardless of their political affiliations and orientations,” noting that “whoever follows the Israeli statements realizes that everyone is within the circle of targeting. Therefore, it is not possible to deal with the state of internal bickering, because it abort the Palestinian national work, and pushes it into a distraction that we do not need.”
In the framework of working on the international scene, Saidam called for intensifying pressure on the countries of the world to increase the pace of recognition of the State of Palestine, while strengthening the role of Palestinian communities abroad, so that they have a role in the pressure marches, and mobilizing international universities that have begun their academic year to resume their marches. It is important that the marches regain their momentum so that they influence decision-making factories in a manner that is consistent with local laws in all countries.
Working with a different political will
For his part, Issam Bakr, a member of the Political Bureau of the People's Party and its representative in the national and Islamic forces in the West Bank, stressed the importance of working with a different political will to confront the current challenges and the Israeli decisive plan.
Bakr called for formulating a unified national program that would be agreed upon by all components of the Palestinian people, and aimed at forming the broadest internal front capable of confronting the occupation’s measures and practices with a unified and strong position.
Bakr stressed that national unity is the key to confronting Israeli policies that seek to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands, and the occupation's ongoing attempts to expel the Palestinian people from their homeland.
Bakr called for strengthening internal alliances by forming a broad national front for popular resistance, in which all the sons of the Palestinian people participate, and working to launch qualitative political and youth initiatives to confront these dangers that threaten the existence and unity of the Palestinian people.
Bakr demanded the immediate withdrawal of recognition of the occupying state, and the implementation of the decisions of the National and Central Councils that stipulate the dissolution of all agreements concluded with Israel, which have been effectively crushed under the tracks of the occupation tanks.
Implementing the Beijing Reconciliation Declaration as a Package
Bakr said: "The current stage requires entering into a mandatory path towards implementing the reconciliation declaration in Beijing as a single package, and consolidating our internal relations on the basis of struggle."
Bakr stressed the importance of reactivating the Palestinian Authority institutions to work towards serving the national liberation program and resisting the occupation.
Bakr called for launching the “Steadfastness and Survival Program,” which aims to strengthen national unity, declare Palestine as a state under occupation, and work to enable the Palestinian people to achieve their rights through an integrated national program to confront the war government in Israel.
He pointed out that the ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinians are being carried out with American weapons, which calls for taking bold political decisions that are commensurate with the size of the challenges in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Bakr stressed that "the day after the war cannot pass without a clear demand for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state."
Bakr said: Fortifying the Palestinian situation is necessary to confront the occupation, pointing out that this fortification must be based on strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian people according to a unified national program, with the development of a national emergency plan aimed at confronting the occupation and its plans.
The necessity of achieving reconciliation
In turn, Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Magda Al-Masry, said that the solution to confronting the ongoing Israeli war of extermination against the Palestinian people lies in implementing what was agreed upon in the “reconciliation agreement” that was signed in the Chinese capital, Beijing, and was called the “Beijing Declaration.”
Al-Masry stressed that this agreement represents the basis through which the internal Palestinian division can be addressed, and enables the Palestinians to confront the liquidation project that targets the entire Palestinian cause, which is actually being implemented on the ground.
Al-Masry explained that the "Beijing Declaration" rebuilt unity around common denominators that had been in disagreement, noting that the agreement specified clear mechanisms for its implementation, including the convening of the "Unified and Temporary National Leadership Framework" consisting of the Secretaries-General, the Executive Committee of the PLO, and the President of the National Council headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, as well as the necessity of forming a national consensus government with reference to all forces and the PLO.
Al-Masry stressed that these steps aim to unify the national ranks in confronting the challenges resulting from the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip and the plan to resolve the conflict in the West Bank. It is necessary to invest in international alliances that stand by the Palestinian cause in order to work to pressure the occupation and hold it accountable for its crimes.
Starting an effective international movement aimed at holding the occupation accountable
Al-Masry stressed that working to implement the "Beijing Declaration" will allow the Palestinians to begin an effective international movement aimed at holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its ongoing crimes, as well as confronting its ongoing attempts to impose a fait accompli on the ground, whether in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip, within the so-called "decisive plan" implemented by the occupation government, stressing the need to confront any consolidation of all the occupation's tools in Gaza.
Regarding the Arab role, Al-Masry called for the necessity of taking a serious position, as it possesses powerful tools through which it can pressure Israel to stop its aggressive policies and support the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people.
Al-Masry stressed the importance of continuing international pressure through international bodies, saying: “This pressure must be continuous and systematic, and this international pressure aims to stop the aggression and the war of extermination in Gaza, to isolate the occupying state and hold it accountable for its crimes.”
Al-Masry stressed the necessity of supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on the ground, along with supporting the resistance in all its forms, as this is the only way to confront the occupation’s plans at the present time.
Real hope for change in the Israeli street
As for the writer and political analyst Dr. Ahmed Rafiq Awad, he believes that the chances of resolving the crisis and stopping the war lie within Israel, pointing out that Israeli public pressure may lead to the overthrow of the government or its dissolution as a result of the escalating internal disputes.
Awad considered this scenario to be the greatest hope for a ceasefire, saying: “I do not rely on American pressure, but I see that internal Israeli pressure is the real hope for change.”
Awad pointed out that the change in the bloody scene may also come through the arrival of a new American president, even if he is from the Democratic Party, as he could put an end to the war.
Awad believes that “Arab pressures for a solution are completely absent, as the role of the Arab countries is limited to watching, while the international community and legal bodies have lost the ability to influence the Israeli decision as a result of the great Israeli encroachment on these institutions.”
On the internal Palestinian level, Awad said that the Palestinian crisis suffers from several aspects, which makes reaching solutions more complicated.
Awad explained that there are multiple parties that do not want Hamas to play any role in the present or the future, considering that Hamas' presence will further complicate matters.
Palestinian reconciliation still elusive
Awad pointed out that Palestinian reconciliation is still far from being achieved, and that the Fatah movement also needs internal restoration and reform of its organizational structure, which are matters that complicate the internal scene.
Awad touched on the role of the Palestinian Authority, saying: “The Authority is facing great Arab and international pressure, but it must challenge this reality and change its behavior and structure.”
Awad stressed that the current circumstances require the Palestinians to take shelter under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the necessity of implementing the idea that the Palestinians are a state under occupation, which imposes different strategies.
Awad stressed that the recent war on the Gaza Strip proved that the world is able to bear massacres to a large extent, especially since international legal and political bodies stood helpless in the face of Israeli aggression, adding: "This clearly shows that the world today has no place for the weak."
Awad stressed that the solution lies in Palestinian will and determination based on steadfastness and belief in national rights. He said: “The murderer and the massacrer will not find a place in history, but will inevitably leave it.”
Awad pointed out that what distinguishes the Palestinian people is their deep belief in their rights and their steadfastness, saying: “We do not have tanks, but we have a family, a father, a mother, and a social incubator that supports our steadfastness toward victory.”
Awad stressed the importance of moral, religious, emotional and national fortification of the Palestinian people, pointing out that this is the basis for the continuation of the Palestinian struggle and confronting the crimes and plans of the Israeli occupation.
Solutions to the current crisis are almost non-existent.
Writer and political analyst Imad Musa believes that the chances of finding solutions to the current crisis have become almost non-existent, as the current Israeli government, led by the extreme religious right, offers only one solution, which is subjugation through genocide and the displacement of the remaining Palestinians.
Musa said that this solution has American and Western support, and aims to gain complete control over the region.
Moussa pointed out that the statements of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, which called for “sending Lebanon back to the Stone Age,” come within this broader framework of Israeli hegemony.
Mousa pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is counting on the return of former US President Donald Trump to power, which may enhance his ambitions to become "King of Israel."
Netanyahu's government is cornering the Palestinian Authority
Mousa believes that Netanyahu's government is currently pushing the Palestinian Authority into a tight corner, leaving it with two choices: either to cooperate with the occupation, or to confront the pressure on it with a financial, political and military siege through the destruction of the Authority's institutions, in light of Israel's evasion of all signed agreements, which requires the Palestinian position to be strengthened and united in the face of all the occupation's plans.
Regarding the international role, Moussa said, “The United States is completely biased towards Israel, while the West is complicit in the continuation of this situation. Therefore, the Palestinians have no choice but national unity and agreement on a joint national program.”
Musa stressed that the genocide operations in the Gaza Strip will not stop, but will gradually move to the West Bank, and will be accompanied by the deportation and displacement of Palestinians holding yellow cards.
Moussa proposed forming a Palestinian national salvation government of consensus, capable of preparing and implementing a unified national action program in which all Palestinian factions participate, as the only way to obstruct the Israeli decisive projects.
National unity and international pressure
In turn, writer and political analyst Dr. Ashraf Badr said that the solution to the current situation, in light of the ongoing massacres and Israeli aggression, depends on several basic factors, most notably Palestinian national unity and international pressure.
Badr believed that the situation would remain the same if American pressure did not intervene to reach an agreement or deal, saying: “If there is no American pressure towards concluding a deal, the matter will remain in the same place.”
Badr pointed out that the Palestinians currently have no solutions to stop these massacres other than defending themselves, and that the only option before them is steadfastness, which is what the majority of Palestinians prefer, stressing that this option is a major demand in light of the absence of an immediate solution to end the Israeli war.
Badr believes that there is a basic solution to confront the challenges represented by the Israeli aggression, which is to strengthen the Palestinian internal front by achieving national unity.
Intensifying political and diplomatic efforts
Badr stressed that unifying the Palestinian ranks has become an urgent matter, especially in light of what was agreed upon in several rounds of reconciliation that have not yet been implemented, adding: "The current situation is very dangerous, but we must fortify ourselves with national unity."
Badr expressed his belief that the Palestinians have only two options; either the situation remains as it is in light of the division, or national unity succeeds in saving the Palestinian scene and fortifying the internal front to confront the aggression, pointing out that the occupation seeks to resolve the conflict in its favor, and this matter must be addressed before it is too late.
Badr stressed that the Palestinian Authority, at this stage, is required to intensify political and diplomatic efforts, stressing the importance of communicating with Arab countries, world countries, and international institutions, with the aim of trying to exert pressure again to stop the war, although these attempts have failed so far, but continuing on this path remains necessary.
