Strangling the West Bank with barriers
37 new checkpoints and barriers in the West Bank, in addition to the previous barriers spread across the length and breadth of the West Bank, in its cities, villages and camps. This measure comes within the plans for escalation, increasing the pace of confrontation, attacks, and tightening the siege and strangulation, in conjunction with the ongoing war of extermination in Gaza, which increases the difficulty of movement, restricts the movement of Palestinians more than it is already restricted, and imposes a difficult reality according to the plans of the occupation government and its racist intentions that have become exposed.
In conjunction with the frenzied attack on the northern West Bank, and what the city of Jenin and its camp and the Nour Shams camp are being subjected to, and the state of great devastation they have caused, and the killings, arrests and systematic destruction of roads, infrastructure and citizens’ homes, this increase in the number of checkpoints comes to cut off more of the cities from each other, and to place more obstacles in the way of the continuation of the lives of the Palestinians, who live in difficult and impossible conditions between oppression, killing, pain, persecution and starvation.
The escalation policy pursued by the government of war and occupation in the Palestinian West Bank has clear and declared goals, which are that the occupation's ambitions are expanding and expanding to nibble away and annex more lands for the benefit of building settlements and settlement expansion, which extends from the north of the West Bank to its south, and the Judaization taking place in Jerusalem, and in every inch of our Palestinian land. The Netanyahu government does not hide these plans, but rather repeats them every day, exploiting the international situation and global silence, and benefiting from American support to undermine the lives of Palestinians, weaken the Palestinian Authority and tighten its economic siege tools, and not to recognize all the agreements that have been signed, so as to make it an authority without authority, amidst a state of confusion and stirring up strife and rumors that it launches through its agents and promoters of its ideas, which increases the complexity of the internal reality.
Strangling the West Bank with more barriers and sieges, and dismembering it with tens of thousands of heavily armed soldiers, possessed by hatred and malice, and the raids and invasions in the shadow of the raging war of extermination in Gaza, is one of the desperate attempts of the war government, and an expression of Netanyahu and his government’s disappointment in achieving what he planned to expel and displace the Palestinians, which failed miserably. Despite all the killing and destruction, the Palestinian remained attached to his land and home, rejecting all forms of immigration, even if he died of hunger, thirst and murder.
Netanyahu and his government leaders know that what is happening is his last chance to show off his racism and commit his massacres, and that the support and endorsement he has received is the highest he can get, and that what is coming will impose on him and on the major countries, especially America, which will be put in a different position. It must put forward a comprehensive and complete settlement initiative, impose a halt to the occupation’s practices and policies, and control the state of extremism and racism that the occupation government is in. It is true that these are difficult and heavy days and months for the Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, but these are the darkest hours of the night, and as for the morning, it is near, near.
This increase in the number of checkpoints cuts off more cities from each other, and places more obstacles in the way of the continuation of the lives of Palestinians, who live in difficult and impossible conditions.
