Bodies of 6 Israeli hostages found in tunnel in Rafah

The Israeli army announced today, Sunday, that the army forces, in cooperation with the General Security Service (Shabak), found, yesterday, Saturday, and returned to Israel from inside an underground tunnel in the Rafah area the bodies of 6 hostages who were kidnapped during the surprise attack on October 7.


The families of 6 Israeli prisoners announced today, Sunday, that they were killed in Gaza, while the White House announced that the Israeli army had recovered 6 bodies from a tunnel in Rafah yesterday, Saturday, including the Israeli-American, Hersh Goldberg Paulin.


Israeli media reported that one of the prisoners appeared alive months ago in a videotape published by the Qassam Brigades, and called on Netanyahu to expedite the prisoner exchange. He is an Israeli prisoner with American citizenship, and his death was announced this morning.


It explained that after announcing the recovery of the bodies of 6 prisoners from the Gaza Strip: There are 101 prisoners still in Gaza, 35 of whom were announced dead.

The Israeli army statement said that the six kidnapped men are: Carmel Gat, Aden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lubnov, Almog Sarousi, and Warrant Officer Uri Danino.


Channel 11 reported that the six prisoners whose bodies were recovered by the army were alive a few days ago.


Channel 13 military correspondent Or Heller said that the Israeli army had no prior information about the location of the six prisoners, and they were found during a search in tunnels near the tunnel in which prisoner Farhan al-Qadi was found.


In Washington, US President Joe Biden announced that the bodies of six hostages who were kidnapped during Hamas' surprise attack on October 7, 2023, on the "Gaza Envelope" settlements and Israeli towns in the south, including the body of Israeli-American Hirsch Goldberg Polin, had been found in the Gaza Strip.


"Earlier Saturday, Israeli forces found the bodies of six hostages held by Hamas in a tunnel under the city of Rafah," Biden said in a statement. "We have now confirmed that one of the hostages... was American citizen Hersh Goldberg Polin."


The Israeli Prisoners' Families Forum commented on this by saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had abandoned the prisoners, and that starting today the country would be shaken, and called on the Israeli public to prepare for this, according to a statement.


Labor Party Chairman Yair Golan called for people to go out and demonstrate today, while opposition leader Yair Lapid said: “Our sons and daughters have been abandoned and are dying in captivity, while Netanyahu is busy playing tricks.”


MK Naama Lazini said: "Today we will all take to the streets. The abandonment killed them - the disaster continues and the grief crushes us. We will resist and shake the country, because otherwise there is no resurrection."


Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak called for civil disobedience after the occupation army announced the return of the bodies of 6 prisoners from the Gaza Strip, and said that Netanyahu does not want to stop the war and must be brought down.
