WFP: Food supply operations in Gaza face increasing challenges
The United Nations World Food Programme warned on Tuesday that food supply operations in Gaza are facing increasing challenges as the aggression continues.
The World Food Programme said in a statement, "The intensity of the conflict, the limited number of crossings and the damaged roads are severely hampering our operations inside the Strip," noting that for this reason it was forced to "reduce the contents of food parcels in Gaza, with the decrease in the flow of aid."
In the same context, the World Food Program confirmed that the failure to open all crossings resulted in the entry of half of the food aid required into Gaza last month.
On the service crisis, the programme stated that after 10 months of war, Gazans are living in an ever-shrinking space without adequate sanitation or healthcare, and are being repeatedly displaced under evacuation orders that also disrupt aid centres dedicated to supporting them, including food distribution and community kitchens supported by the World Food Programme.
The programme also warned of the condition of the roads in the sector, noting that within two months, when the rains fall, most of the roads will become unusable.
