An officer exposed his message.. An Israeli military commander urges genocide in Lebanon

Israeli army mental health officer Adi Engert revealed in a post on the X platform that a new commander in the Alexandroni Brigade urged his soldiers to commit genocide in Lebanon.

The post by the mental health officer in the Alexandroni Brigade of the army sparked a wave of reactions in Israel, and her posts were blocked, but copies of them are still circulating in the Israeli media.

New leader wants genocide

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said: "The mental health officer in the Alexandroni Brigade, Adi Engert, tweeted on the social networking site X on Monday evening that the new commander of the brigade, Colonel Moshe Pisal, hopes that the fighters will commit genocide."

She added: "Engert attached to the tweet an excerpt from a file sent by Colonel Bessal to the soldiers, in which he wrote: 'Lebanon's villages will become desolate, and its roads will be without access.'"

According to Channel 12, the soldiers of the Alexandroni Brigade have performed more than 200 days of reserve service since October 7 on the border with Lebanon and in the Gaza Strip.

The channel indicated that Engert wrote after Besal took office, that he published a message to the brigade's soldiers in which he said: "A new commander has joined the brigade. First, I hope that the fighters commit genocide."

The channel noted that, in another post, Ingret described soldiers from the far-right Religious Zionism party, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, as a "death eaters sect."

The channel explained that in response to this, the head of the Knesset Constitution Committee, MK Simcha Rothman, sent a letter to the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, and the head of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, calling for a disciplinary investigation and action against Engert.

For his part, Smotrich wrote on the X platform on Tuesday: “Is there a reason why we woke up this morning without the IDF announcing yet that this woman has been expelled from the army?”

Clashes in southern Lebanon ease

Meanwhile, Lebanon's southern border has witnessed a significant decline in clashes with the Israeli side.

Israel carried out air strikes and "limited" artillery shelling on towns in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah announced launching a drone attack and targeting espionage equipment around the Dovev barracks.

This decrease in the pace of Israeli raids came shortly after Hezbollah finished its response to the assassination of leader Fouad Shukr last Sunday.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted statements by hospital directors in northern Israel, in which they revealed that hospitals had dealt with 2,000 injuries since the beginning of the escalation with Hezbollah. These numbers are very far from the government numbers announced by the National Media Authority in the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on August 14.
