UNRWA: Water shortage in Deir al-Balah reached 85% due to Israeli aggression
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced today, Monday, that the water shortage has reached 85% in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, indicating that only 3 water wells out of 18 are operating in the city due to the ongoing Israeli aggression for 11 months.
UNRWA said in a post on the X platform, "Due to the ongoing military operations in Deir al-Balah, only 3 water wells out of 18 are still operating, resulting in an 85% water shortage."
“People in Gaza are not only living in constant fear for their lives, but are struggling to meet even their most basic needs,” she added.
The agency stressed in a second post that "this is a complete dehumanization and an endless tragedy," noting that "families across the Gaza Strip are still forced to flee and leave their homes and belongings behind."
"All they can do now is try to survive. People (in Gaza) have lost everything," she continued, renewing her call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
