International newspapers: Netanyahu is a master of fake negotiations and manipulates Washington
International newspapers and websites have highlighted the way the US administration is dealing with the negotiations on the Gaza Strip. The Intercept website wrote that these negotiations "have become a tool to perpetuate the genocidal war waged by Israel on the Strip."
The Intercept adds that the US-led negotiations "are being exploited by US President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris to camouflage and divert attention from the fact that they support the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza."
On the other hand, the Washington Post quoted Middle East expert Aaron David Miller as saying that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is playing for time and manipulating the United States. He added, "The US President's administration is stuck in a dead end in negotiations and there seems to be no way out."
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz wrote in an editorial that Netanyahu has proven over the years that he is "a master of fake negotiations, with a lot of talk and zero action."
The newspaper called on the Israelis to "wake up and make it clear to Netanyahu that he has no mandate to sacrifice the hostages, and they must wake up before it is too late while some of the hostages are still alive."
The Financial Times focused on the re-emergence of polio in Gaza, saying that it represents a major setback to decades of efforts to eradicate the disease. Aid agencies estimated that 50,000 children born during the war are unlikely to receive any vaccinations due to the collapse of the health system in the besieged Strip, and Israeli restrictions on supplies.
