UNRWA announces that the number of its killed workers has risen to 207
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced today, Monday, that the death toll of its employees in the Gaza Strip has risen to 207 since the start of the Israeli war on October 7, 2023.
The agency's announcement coincided with World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19 of each year.
"207 UNRWA workers have been killed in Gaza since the start of the war, some of them while performing their duties," it said in a statement.
The statement explained that "the UNRWA dead in Gaza were doctors, engineers, teachers and others from various specialties."
UNRWA concluded its statement by saying, “On World Humanitarian Day and every day, we remember them and pay tribute to them all.”
On August 9, the UN agency announced that 205 humanitarian workers had been killed by the Israeli army since October 7.
