One killed and one injured in a shooting operation in the Jordan Valley.. Al-Qassam Brigades claims responsibility for the operation
An Israeli was killed and an Arab youth was injured in a shooting operation carried out this afternoon, Sunday, from a passing vehicle on Route 90 in the Jordan Valley area of the occupied West Bank, in an operation claimed by the Al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank.
The Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that "Al-Qassam fighters in the West Bank were able to kill one of the Zionist soldiers at point-blank range this afternoon near the 'Mehoola' settlement in the northern Jordan Valley, and they returned to their bases safely."
Israeli medical crews confirmed that an Israeli died of critical injuries, while Anas Jaramneh, 31, from the village of Al-Muqaybilah, sustained minor injuries. He was transferred to the hospital to remain for a short period under medical observation at Rambam Hospital, after being injured by bullet fragments during the shooting.
According to Israeli army estimates, the shooting was carried out from a passing vehicle carrying at least two resistance fighters, and targeted Israeli vehicles in two different locations in the same area.
The perpetrators of the operation withdrew from the place, while the occupation army sent military reinforcements to the area and began search and combing operations, and closed the Tayasir and Hamra military checkpoints in the northern Jordan Valley.
The Israeli army said in a brief statement that it received a report of gunfire from a passing car in the area of the "Mahola" intersection, which is a settlement in the Jordan Valley region, located south of the city of Beisan, north of the Jordan Valley.
After the Israeli army radio reported that the operation resulted in a settler sustaining injuries ranging from minor to moderate, it said that a critically injured person was found near the shooting site.
The medical teams later declared the injured person dead in critical condition.
The occupation army said in a second statement, "Following the shooting at the Muhalla Junction, large forces rushed to the area and are combing and pursuing the terrorists."
He added that "according to the information currently available, there are two injuries, one minor and the other critical." The Israeli army estimates that "the shooting was carried out from a passing vehicle."
In a third statement, the occupation army said that gunmen "opened fire from a passing vehicle at several cars at the Muhalla junction on Route 90 in the Jordan Valley area. The attack resulted in the death of an Israeli and the injury of another."
He added that his forces "began chasing the saboteurs, closing roads and carrying out extensive combing operations in the area."
The Israeli occupation forces stormed the villages of Kardala and Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley. Local sources said that the occupation forces stormed the two villages and sent a number of military patrols, while the area witnessed a military alert, especially near the "Mahola" settlement.
The sources added that the occupation closed the Tayasir and Hamra checkpoints in both directions, creating a vehicle crisis for hundreds of meters.
