Houthis: 3 US-British raids target Hodeidah, western Yemen

The Houthi group announced today, Friday, that the United States and Britain launched 3 raids on the Al Hudaydah Governorate in western Yemen, while the US Central Command ("CENTCOM") announced the destruction of two missiles, a ground control station, and a boat belonging to the group, within 24 hours.

Al-Masirah TV, the Houthi mouthpiece, reported in a breaking news report via the Telegram app that "an American-British aggression targeted the Ras Issa area in the Al-Salif district of Al-Hodeidah Governorate with 3 raids."

The channel did not address the results of the targeting, while there was no immediate comment from the American or British sides in this regard.

Yesterday, Thursday, the group said that the US-British coalition aircraft launched two raids on the Al-Jabana area in the same governorate.

Overlooking the Red Sea, Hodeidah is one of the most important Yemeni governorates, as it contains an international airport and three vital ports, in addition to having a long coastal strip.

For its part, CENTCOM said in a statement on the X platform that "over the past 24 hours, US Central Command forces destroyed two anti-ship missiles and a Houthi ground control station."

The Central Command forces were also able to destroy a Houthi drone boat in the Red Sea.

"CENTCOM" said that these weapons "posed a clear and direct threat to US forces, coalition forces (Prosperity Guardian), and commercial vessels in the region."

As of 06:40 (GMT), the Houthi group has not commented on the CENTCOM statement.

In solidarity with Gaza in the face of the ongoing Israeli war on the Strip since October 7, 2023, the Houthi group has begun targeting Israeli cargo ships, or those linked to them, in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since last November.

In response to these attacks, Washington and London began, since the beginning of this year, launching air strikes and missile attacks on “Houthi sites” in Yemen, which the group responded to by announcing that it now considers “all American and British ships among its military targets, and expanding its attacks to ships passing through the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean or any place its weapons can reach.”
