UN: Killing and displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank continues unabated
The United Nations said that the killing and displacement of Palestinians by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank continues unabated.
Farhan Haq, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said in press statements that the latest report issued by UN organizations in the region indicated that the killing of Palestinians, their displacement, the destruction of their homes, and the destruction of infrastructure continue unabated in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
He added that the occupation forces killed 16 Palestinians, including two children, and injured 56 others in the West Bank between July 30 and August 5.
He pointed out that the settlers also carried out more than 20 attacks against Palestinians during the same period, which led to injuries and damage to property.
The UN spokesman said that the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza is hampering the ability of relief organizations to respond to emergencies, causing "mass losses."
He pointed out that the OCHA report highlighted that "repeated evacuation orders in Gaza lead to an endless cycle of displacement."
Haq stressed that it has become "increasingly difficult" for Palestinians to obtain the humanitarian assistance they need under these circumstances.
He pointed out that epidemic diseases are spreading in Gaza due to polluted water, overcrowding, and inadequate hygiene conditions.
