Investigation of Israeli soldiers on charges of torturing Palestinian detainees in "Sde Teiman" prison

Israeli media reported that 9 occupation soldiers were arrested for investigation on charges of torturing and sexually assaulting Palestinian detainees in the Sde Teiman prison, where detainees from the Gaza Strip have been held since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023.

Extremist Ben Gvir, in response to the soldiers' arrest, stormed the "Sde Teiman" prison, and announced, along with members of Knesset and members of far-right parties, their support for the soldiers who tortured Palestinian detainees.

Since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, the Israeli occupation forces have turned the "Sde Teiman" base into a prison to detain citizens from the Gaza Strip, in inhumane conditions, where they remain handcuffed and blindfolded all the time, and are subjected to brutal torture.

In an article published today by the American newspaper, The Washington Post, it said that violence is widely used against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.

The newspaper reported that a Palestinian detainee was beaten by soldiers, which led to his broken ribs and death. Another detainee died as a result of not treating his chronic illness, and a third as a result of not intervening despite his screaming for help for hours.

The Washington Post explained that these three people are among 13 detainees from the West Bank and the 1948 territories who died in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023.

Speaking to the newspaper, Jessica Montell, executive director of the human rights organization Hamoked, said: “Violence is everywhere, overcrowding, every prisoner we met lost 30 kilograms.”
