The newspaper "Israel Hayom" said that an initial investigation indicates that the air defense systems had difficulty intercepting the missiles in Majdal Shams in the Golan.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted sources as saying, "Majdal Shams was not ready for a difficult attack, its residents were not evacuated, and it is not fortified."

Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is holding security consultations in Washington after being briefed on the details of the incident in Majdal Shams."

While he stressed that Israel is approaching a comprehensive war with the party, he said, "There is no doubt that we will pay a price, but Hezbollah will pay a greater price." An Israeli security source told the Broadcasting Authority, "What happened will not pass and our response will be harsh."

Hezbollah denies

While Hezbollah's media relations official, Mohammad Afif, told Reuters that he "categorically denied the allegations made by some enemy media outlets about our targeting Majdal Shams," Reuters quoted an Israeli military official as saying that "Hezbollah was the one that launched the missile that fell on a football stadium in the Golan."

The Israeli army spokesman confirmed this by saying, "Hezbollah is behind the launch of a rocket at a football stadium in Majdal Shams in the Golan."

Israeli National Union party leader Benny Gantz also said that "the time has come to conclude an exchange deal" with the resistance in Gaza "and direct the escalation to the northern front."

Walla website also quoted Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as saying that he "demands that the prime minister launch a war on Hezbollah immediately."
