Updated: 10 people killed in the occupied Golan Heights.. Hezbollah denies targeting Majdal Shams
Israeli media announced today, Saturday, the killing of 10 people as a result of a missile launched from Lebanon falling on a football stadium in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, and it also spoke of dozens of injuries. While Hezbollah denied responsibility for the attack, the occupation threatened it with a harsh and dramatic response.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that 10 Israeli youths were killed when a rocket fired from Lebanon fell on Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. The Israeli ambulance service said that 30 people were injured, including 7 in critical condition, as a result of the rocket.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper also quoted the Israeli ambulance as saying that 30 people were injured in the attack on Majdal Shams and that "the situation is very tragic."
Scenes published by Israeli news pages on Telegram showed the deployment of Israeli police and ambulance personnel at the site of the rocket’s fall.
The Israeli website Walla also said that planes and helicopters fill the skies of the north of the country, and the residents of the Golan Heights have been asked to stay in protected areas.
The Israeli army radio said that 11 people were injured, including 5 in critical condition, and were transferred to hospitals as a result of a drone falling from southern Lebanon into the northern Golan Heights.
I had a hard time
The newspaper "Israel Hayom" said that an initial investigation indicates that the air defense systems had difficulty intercepting the missiles in Majdal Shams in the Golan.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted sources as saying, "Majdal Shams was not ready for a difficult attack, its residents were not evacuated, and it is not fortified."
Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is holding security consultations in Washington after being briefed on the details of the incident in Majdal Shams."
Channel 12 Israel quoted an official close to Netanyahu as saying that the attack on Majdal Shams would lead to a dramatic shift in the confrontations in the north.
Israeli media added that Defense Minister Yoav Galant is holding consultations with army leaders after the bombing in the Galilee and the Golan.
Channel 12 also quoted Foreign Minister Israel Katz as saying that "Hezbollah crossed the red lines."
Walla website said that towns in the Haifa district warned residents that changes may occur to the Home Front Command's instructions in the coming hours.
Israel Hayom quoted military officials as saying that the response to the Majdal Shams attack "will be broad and we will be forced to consider going to war."
While he stressed that Israel is approaching a comprehensive war with the party, he said, "There is no doubt that we will pay a price, but Hezbollah will pay a greater price." An Israeli security source told the Broadcasting Authority, "What happened will not pass and our response will be harsh."
Hezbollah denies
While Hezbollah's media relations official, Mohammad Afif, told Reuters that he "categorically denied the allegations made by some enemy media outlets about our targeting Majdal Shams," Reuters quoted an Israeli military official as saying that "Hezbollah was the one that launched the missile that fell on a football stadium in the Golan."
The Israeli army spokesman confirmed this by saying, "Hezbollah is behind the launch of a rocket at a football stadium in Majdal Shams in the Golan."
Israeli National Union party leader Benny Gantz also said that "the time has come to conclude an exchange deal" with the resistance in Gaza "and direct the escalation to the northern front."
Walla website also quoted Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as saying that he "demands that the prime minister launch a war on Hezbollah immediately."
In turn, Israeli Channel 12 quoted officials as saying that Netanyahu is considering shortening his visit to Washington in the wake of the Majdal Shams events.
