UNRWA: Israel has placed 80% of the Gaza Strip under evacuation orders

UNRWA said on Tuesday that Israel has placed more than 80% of the Gaza Strip under evacuation orders, and that thousands of Palestinians continue to flee again from the city of Khan Yunis.

This came according to Louise Waterridge, communications officer at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

It added, "We continue to hear the same question from the people of Gaza: Where do we go?"

In the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, thousands of people are fleeing for their lives again, according to the same source.

It stressed that "Israel has placed more than 80% of Gaza areas under evacuation orders."

73 Palestinians were martyred and more than 270 were injured, including seriously, in a military operation launched by the Israeli army on Monday morning in the eastern areas of the city of Khan Yunis, which it previously claimed were “safe areas.”

The Israeli army ordered the Palestinians in the eastern neighborhoods of Khan Yunis to “evacuate immediately” and head towards the Al-Mawasi area, west of the city.

This comes amid the continued widespread displacement among civilians living in those areas, who fled from their homes and shelter centers to the western areas of the city, under the lava of the raids.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society previously announced in a statement that "its Ma'an and Bani Suhaila clinics have been out of service due to their location in the areas east of Khan Yunis, which the Israeli army notified of evacuation."

The Israeli army had classified the areas extending from the west of Salah al-Din Street to the sea in Khan Yunis as “safe areas” and asked the Palestinians to go there, while the evacuation orders on Monday included a number of neighborhoods in the eastern regions.
