President Abbas discusses with a Russian envoy the Israeli “aggression” against Gaza and the West Bank

On Monday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed with the Russian Foreign Minister’s envoy to the Middle East, Vladimir Safronkov, the latest developments in the “Israeli aggression” against the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

With American support, the Israeli occupation has been waging a war on Gaza since October 7, resulting in 129,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing people amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children.

In parallel with this war, the army and Israeli settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. Which led to the death of 578 Palestinians, the injury of 5,400, and the arrest of 9,760, according to official Palestinian authorities.

The official Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) said that Abbas discussed with Safronkov, during a meeting in Ramallah, “the latest developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories, and the ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.”

Abbas renewed the call to "immediately stop the Israeli aggression, deliver humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip, and complete Israeli withdrawal from the Strip."

For the 18th year, Israel has besieged the Gaza Strip, and its war forced about two million of its population, numbering about 2.3 million Palestinians, to flee in catastrophic conditions, with severe scarcity of food, water and medicine.

Abbas also stressed the need to "stop Israeli attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and release Palestinian clearance funds."

He called for "implementing a political solution in accordance with the two-state solution option, based on international legitimacy resolutions."

While Safronkov stressed "Russia's firm positions towards the Palestinian issue and support for the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and independence."

Israel continues its war on Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Strip.

Tel Aviv is also challenging the request of International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu and its Defense Minister Yoav Galant. For their responsibility for “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in Gaza.
