West Bank: Israeli settlers seize a Palestinian house in Silwan

Today, Tuesday, settlers, protected by the Israeli occupation forces, seized a house belonging to Jerusalemite citizen Jawad Abu Nab in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Eyewitnesses reported that a number of armed settlers infiltrated the house and took control of it, after removing the protections of the windows and doors, and preventing its residents from returning to it.

It is noteworthy that the occupation court issued a decision to displace the families of Abu Naab, Al-Rajabi, and Ghaith from the neighborhood last week, based on a claim from the “Ateret Cohenim Colonial Association” that 5 dunums and 200 square meters of the neighborhood’s land belonged to the Jews since 1881.

Since 2015, the occupation authorities have been working to deliver notices and “judicial notices” to Palestinian families in the neighborhood to vacate their homes.

Citizens have no choice to defend their right to their homes and prove their ownership, except by resorting to the Israeli courts, which are mostly moot courts and affiliated with the occupation regime.

The "Israeli Central Court", which is the second court after the "Magistrate Court", rejected the appeal submitted by the families against the decisions to evict them from their homes in favor of the colonists. According to the decision, the court gave the families 90 days to object in the "Israeli Supreme Court."

The four targeted homes include 9 residential units, housing more than 80 individuals, including the elderly, children, the sick, and people with disabilities.
