UN experts: Famine has spread throughout the Gaza Strip

United Nations human rights experts said on Tuesday that famine has spread throughout the Gaza Strip.

UN experts explained that the death of children in the Gaza Strip due to malnutrition and dehydration confirms the spread of famine.

Experts pointed out that the death of a child due to malnutrition and dehydration indicates that health and social structures have been attacked and seriously weakened.

They pointed out that Israel's starvation campaign against the Palestinian people is a form of genocide and has caused famine.

The experts called on the international community to give priority to delivering aid to Gaza by land and to end the Israeli siege.

The day before yesterday, medical sources announced the death of a 6-year-old child due to famine and drought, bringing the number of malnutrition victims in the Gaza Strip to 41.

It also announced that fifty children are suffering from malnutrition and starvation in the northern Gaza Strip, while symptoms of malnutrition have been recorded in more than 200 children in the Gaza Strip.

The population of the northern Gaza Strip, numbering about 700,000 people, suffers from a severe shortage of food and vegetables, as a result of Israel's continued closure of the border crossings and the failure of trucks to enter the north, which brings the "specter of famine" to the forefront again, according to local officials and international organizations.

Previously, the World Food Program said that half a million people in the Gaza Strip face catastrophic levels of hunger.

The UN program added that Palestinian families in Gaza often do not receive full food rations on an ongoing basis.

On May 7, the occupation forces occupied the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, which led to the cessation of the flow of aid to the Strip and the travel of the wounded and sick abroad to receive treatment, and exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, specifically in the north, after citizens exhausted what they had left. Of food supplies in light of the scarcity of aid.
