Gaza Health warns of the repercussions of the continuing fuel crisis in its facilities

On Saturday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza warned of the repercussions of the continuing fuel crisis on the few functioning health facilities, in light of austerity measures that were forced to be implemented due to the scarcity of quantities coming into the sector.

The ministry said in a statement: “We warn again of the continuing fuel crisis necessary to operate hospital generators, oxygen stations, and refrigerators for storing medicines in all health facilities remaining operational in the Gaza Strip.”

It continued: "Severe austerity measures are being followed in response to the Qatarization policy of supplying very small quantities of fuel."

It pointed out that "many departments within the remaining hospitals operating in the sector were suspended due to the crisis."

The Gaza Ministry of Health appealed to "the concerned, international and humanitarian institutions to intervene and quickly provide the fuel necessary to operate the generators."

Since the start of the war, the Israeli army has deliberately targeted Gaza's hospitals and health system, and put many hospitals out of service. This put the lives of the sick and wounded at risk, according to Palestinian and UN data.

Since the beginning of the war, Israel has also prevented the entry of humanitarian, medical and fuel aid, except for a small amount of it to international institutions, so that the Gaza government says that the aid that enters does not meet the enormous needs of the population, which is confirmed by the UN agency UNRWA.

The government media office said that Israel's destruction of the Rafah crossing on June 17 hindered the entry of more than 15,000 aid trucks into the Strip that are still stuck at the crossings.
