Netanyahu reiterates his refusal to stop the war on Gaza

During his weekly cabinet meeting today, Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his refusal to end the war on Gaza, and said that “there is no change in Israel’s position regarding the liberation plan (freeing the hostages) that President Biden welcomed.”

At the end of last month, US President Joe Biden reviewed an Israeli proposal in three stages: a prisoner exchange in the first stage, a sustainable ceasefire in the second stage, and the reconstruction of Gaza in the third stage.

Netanyahu then responded to Biden's review of the proposal by saying, "I did not agree to end the war in the second phase of the proposal," but only to "discuss" that step according to Israel's conditions.

Today, Netanyahu claimed that “Hamas is the only obstacle to the liberation of our kidnappers,” even though the families of the hostages accuse him of thwarting the possibility of reaching a deal with Hamas for a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire.

Netanyahu repeated the claim that “by combining political pressure and military pressure, and military pressure first, we will return all 120 of our kidnapped people, alive and martyred.”

He added that he will hold deliberations to evaluate the situation in the Southern Command of the Israeli army, later today, "and I will closely monitor the progress of our fighting and our plans in order to complete the war objectives."

Netanyahu added, “Our forces are operating in Rafah, Shuja’iya, and everywhere in the Gaza Strip. They are killing dozens of terrorists every day.”

This is a comradely struggle that takes place above the surface of the earth, and sometimes in face-to-face battles, which also take place underground.”

According to Netanyahu, “We are obligated to fight until we achieve our goals: eliminating Hamas, returning our kidnappers, ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel, and returning our residents in the south and north to their homes safely.”

Netanyahu continued, "I repeat to everyone who doubts the achievement of our goals that there is no alternative to victory. Our soldiers did not fall in vain. We will not end the war until we achieve all our goals."
